Therapist Self Development: Becoming a More Integral and Effective Practitioner

with Karen Delahunty, LMBT

May 18-19, 2017 | Thursday, 9:30am-5:30pm | 14 CE contact hours | $295

In the realm of touch therapies and other healing modalities, the term “body, mind and spirit” conveys a common understanding of all the ways we measure our sense of well-being and our sense of health. In this two-day workshop we will explore and differentiate these aspects of the “self” – body, mind, spirit and emotions. Which are areas of strength for you and which areas hold challenges?

Furthering our assessments in each domain, we will practice techniques that further our capacities and skills in each area. For example; in the domain of thoughts; how do we manage them for more clarity and discernment? Our emotions; how can we use them to create more connection with others? Our sensate bodies; how do we listen to these sensory self for taking effective action? And lastly, how do we work with the transpersonal self to harness grace and resilience?

We will cover the following:

  • Define the Integrative Model for Self-Development; distinguish the skills and practices necessary to manage thoughts, mood, respectful attitude and effective action
  • Develop and cultivate the practices of Attention, Awareness and Practice
  • Name and practice the three vital centers of embodied intelligence; discern the cognitive and felt characteristics of each center
  • Explore the value of integrating thinking, feeling, sensing in mobilizing attention, focus and strength – and their value as a massage therapist in directing intention and healing
  • How to share these techniques with clients

NOTE: This workshop meets the requirements for ethics education for license renewal with the NC Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy and for recertification with NCBTMB.
